Apple's share of the smart-phone market with a jump of 14.4% became the third-top smart-phone operating system.

The iPhone operating system's 6.2% jump in market share was followed by Android, which expanded its market share by 3.4% points.

The overall leader in the worldwide smart-phone market Symbian, primarily used by Nokia, fell from 52.4% to 46.9%.

As developers submit more and racier apps the complaints from users are also increasing.

"It came to the point where we were getting customer complaints from women who found the content getting too degrading and objectionable, as well as parents who were upset with what their kids were able to see", Apple's Phil Schiller, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Product Marketing.

But the Playboy App and Sports Illustrated's swimsuit app still remain in the store.

Apple instituted parental controls, designed to help parents protect against offensive apps while giving developers more leeway in getting apps into the store.

Apple, RIM, and Android devices are growing significantly in the meantime but the Linux-based phones are on the decline globally.

Nokia and Intel have teamed up to transform the Linux-based Meamo into Meego.
