65% of adults and 31% of children were found to be overweight.

The ministers affirmed that they will work with the manufacturers, producers and caterers to reduce portion sizes.
The strategy will aim at including activity to standardize portion sizes in ready to eat meals. If the shops and restaurateurs did not adhere to the health eating agenda, ministers will take serious action against them.
The strategy is titled ‘Preventing Overweight and Obesity in Scotland – A Route Map towards Healthy Weight’, involves a series of radical actions to tackle the obesity. It aims at limiting the number of fast food joints which offer junk food near schools and amusement parks.
