Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust has been proved to be fallible, according to the Healthcare Commission after it submitted a negative report about the management of Stafford Hospital last March.
The standards of care in the hospital were dreadful and due to that 400 to 1,200 more people died than expected between 2005 and 2008.
The campaigners want a public inquiry. The Tories would back a public enquiry but ministers have opposed the same.
Julie Bailey, founder of the victims' campaign group Cure said,” It is time that the public were told the truth about the very large number of excess deaths of patients in NHS care and the very large number of avoidable but deadly errors that occur in NHS hospitals every day”.
According to the Commission, there were shortcomings at almost every stage including lack of adequate and trained staff, stinging wards and bathrooms.
A lot of patients suffered as the nurses were not aware of the usage of specific appliances and machines in the hospital.
The Commission humiliated and interrogated the trust of focusing more on finance and maintaining its status rather than improving the quality of the services provided to the needy.
