Number of Old People Using Marijuana Expected to Increase

A recent US Government report expects further rise in number of old people born between 1945 and 1964 using marijuana more than occasionally from 78 million. This elevation is expected more in the parts of US where the weed is available for medicinal use legally.

According to the surveys conducted by Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, the rise in number of marijuana users almost tripled to 5.1% in 2008 as compared to the 1.6% in 2002. Whereas people above
50 using the drug mounted from 1.9% in 2002 to 2.9% in 2008.

Keith Stroup, the founder and lawyer of NORML, a marijuana advocacy group, stated, "The kids are grown, they're out of school, you've got time on your hands and frankly it's a time when you can really enjoy marijuana. Food tastes better, music sounds better and sex is more enjoyable".

Although doctors do not recommend the drug as it causes dizziness, it has been believed by the users of this drug that it is a helpful medicine for pains and aches related to aging and it has also been claimed that it helps it is also an effective sleeping medication.
