Telecom will leave no stone unturned to deal with customers who want to ditch their cellphone contracts. It will only release its customers from their contracts if they are very frequently affected by network failures, as the company can test if the user is being affected by the faults or not.
Telecom staff would access requests from such customers on a case-by-case basis.
Alcatel-Lucent, designed and built XT, and is answerable for its function.
Alcatel-Lucent global chief executive Ben Verwaayen said, "I apologize to the customers of the network. They have the right to expect a flawless service - that is what they are paying for. We have let Telecom down on that and we are going to make sure we rectify it".
Telecom announced yesterday a $10 million payment package for customers affected by a recent XT outage, 33 percent concession to personal customers on plans and for prepays top-up for three months, and 50 percent off access fees to industry customers.
The other mobile phone service providers also got a lot of requests and queries from customers to know about the ways to switch companies.
Mr. Verwaayen also added, "Some were cases were human error; others were the technology, or combinations we are investigating at the moment. At the end of the day, the only thing that matters is, people have a reliable network and they get the service they are paying for".
