According to statistics for the BBC2 documentary "The Virtual Revolution" produced by Experian Hitwise, it was found that noticeably Sunderland is the place where Facebook is used the most as compared to any other place in UK, terming social networking site as the Facebook Capital.

The city residents are 24% more likely to visit the site than others. The Futureheads, a local band solely had over 8000 members on their Facebook fan page showing the frequent use of the site. The cities which found place in top ten include Durham, Bolton and Manchester.

On other hand the cities with least use of Facebook drag Scottish cities, including Aberdeen, Perth, and Motherwell to the bottom ten.

Overall in the country, 23 million users access the popular social networking site of the popular social networking site across the country.

The documentary of BBC2 series also cites interviews with Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, Barack Obama's, Chris Hughes and Tim Berners-Lee.
