Metro Website was Accessible to Outside Users, Admits Developer

A private contractor, who had developed the website for NSW Government, which has allegedly been hacked into by a Sydney newspaper, has now confessed that the site was accessible to outside users as well.

The admittance has managed to force the NSW Transport Minister David Campbell into a background which is much embarrassing, after announcing to the Parliament on Tuesday that all the hacking claims have now been referred to the police for investigation.

Mr. Campbell had, on Tuesday, detailed all the allegations slapped against Sydney Morning Herald, in the Parliament, stressing that the Shape Your State website had been attacked and hacked into somewhere on last Thursday and Friday, a mere days before the website was to be officially launched.

On Saturday, the newspaper adorned its front page with a special story on the NSW Government's yet unreleased transport blueprint, saying that it had managed to get its hand on some important announcements when they were uploaded on the website by sheer accident.

The Parliament was, however, informed by Mr. Campbell that the contractor responsible for the development of the site, Bang The Table, disputed the story published by the newspaper, and instead stressed that Shape Your State had been hacked.
