Intel, the world's leader in silicon innovation, will expand from its primary business of providing micro processing chips for computers and servers, said Chief Executive Paul Otellini on Wednesday.
Intel has decided to invest company's $884 million to acquire Wind River Systems Inc., which would offer software for mobile devices, television set-top boxes, and other products.
The Chief Executive Otellini said that Intel has managed to expand its business in low-price markets for powerful chips used in mobile devices and other electronics.
Next year, Intel's Atom chip will be turn up in LG Electronic Inc.'s smart phones. Intel has also a coalition with Nokia Corporation, which are using Intel's Atom chip in its netbook PCs. Analyst revealed that Intel's Atom chip will be soon featured in Nokia's smart phones.
Intel and other corporation decided that they will provide 10,500 jobs for college graduates who are unemployed due to economic recession. Intel also decided to create $3.5 billion on U. S.-based technology companies in coming next two years.
Intel's shares closed up 1.53%, or 31 cents, at $20.70 a share.
