According to the experts, intense exercise sessions would allow people to work out in less than an hour. It is also called interval training, introduced for Olympic athletes.
"High-intensity interval training is twice as effective as normal exercise. This is like finding a new pill that works twice as well. We should immediately throw out the old way of exercising”, added Jan Helgerud, an exercise expert at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology.
In Britain and the United States, officials suggest that people should indulge in about 2 ½ hours every week of moderate exercise. These guidelines are projected to help with weight control and heart health, and not just bolstering fitness levels, or increasing stamina. But, experts warned that people should not stop their regular exercise routine for intense training and are advised to consult a doctor before starting any fitness training.
Stephen Bailey, a sport sciences expert at the University of Exeter, revealed that intense interval training would allow the body use oxygen more efficiently and exercising a bit longer. Interval training needs a few minutes. But, its effects last for hours.
Interval training is harmless for wider populations.
