Reports have confirmed that Mitsubishi Power Systems Europe is investing a sum of 100 Million Pounds in off-shore wind turbine research in Britain, and the development will create about 200 new jobs by the time 2014 rolls in.
The plan has emerged as one of the many to have come out over the recent weeks to boost Britain's wind industry; raising more hopes that the UK manufacturing sector will now end up cashing in on the quick expansion needed to meet green targets.
In all, the MPSE Research and Development program has been supported by 30 Million Pounds from the Government grants, from a total of 950 Million Pounds grant especially created to invest in industrial innovation, job creation and growth.
Although the plan has initially been set up for research purposes only, it has managed to put UK in a strong position to compete for more MPSE manufacturing investment in future, with a potential for creating another 1,500 jobs, as has been shared by the Government.
"The UK is now well placed to manufacture the turbines needed for the next generation of offshore wind farms. We will continue to work with Mitsubishi to secure production in the UK", said Lord Mandelson, the Business Secretary.
