Londonwide Local Medical Committees has advised GPs to consider proactively contacting patients about the creation of Summary Care Records.
NHS London will run 12 week Public Information Programmes on the SCR across all primary care trusts in the capital with an aim to create SCRs for 100% of Londoners.
LMC suggested that practitioners might contact patients directly or use patient participation groups or practice websites and text messaging systems to outline patients' options on the SCR.
Pros and cons are related to have an SCR but emergency doctors would have access to medical records in order to avoid mistakes or problems.
The patients who want their medical records, and also those who are not sure to sign an opt-out form at reception, have been advised to stay confidential to this practice.
In spite of the controversial rollout of summary care records continuing in London, doctors are providing alternative information from that sent officially send to patients by the NHS.
Doctors' body, the British Medical Association, heavily criticized the fact that patients were automatically opted in, while the records intended to provide out-of-hours hospital clinicians with crucial access to patient records.
