Seoul - Despite the global economic slowdown, South Korean travellers aren't likely to abandon plans for holidays in their favourite destinations in South-East Asia, China and Japan, a survey has found.
The survey of 1,646 adults by travel agent Modetour and researcher Embrain in December found that six out of 10 respondents said they would not mind travelling during the peak holiday season, even with the South Korean economy slowing down.
Four out of 10 respondents had already made plans to travel overseas in the next two weeks.
The researchers said there will be a slip in the actual number of South Korean travellers this holiday season compared to a year ago.
"But the slip is insignificant considering the magnitude of the economic slowdown, although people will be spending less than they used to," a Modetour spokesperson said.
According to the survey the most popular destinations for South Koreans were in South-east Asia, followed by Japan, China and Europe.
Skiing, snowboarding and sightseeing were the most popular activities for South Korean tourists in order of preference. (dpa)
