It has been brought out to the open that babies which are born through the method of in vitro fertilization or otherwise called IVF don't really face very high risk of having birth defects and it was also proved through extensive studies that those babies also do not face any risk of being smaller than regular babies.
On the other hand, it was made certain that the mothers who had conceived through IVF had actually a lot of chances, probably more than women conceived through normal means, to develop a complication that usually occurs during pregnancy called the placenta previa. This complication causes the placenta to block the opening which leads to the birth canal.
Although there were a lot of studies to prove that babies conceived normally had few risks when compared to children who were conceived through IVF of being affected with birth disorders and also a very low weight at birth. But when the IVF babies are compared with babies conceived by other means, the risks are practically unknown on a comparative basis with no studies to prove it.
