Black people have more chances of suffering from hypertension, high blood pressure, heart disease and other cardiovascular disorders as compared to other segments of the United States population.

American Heart Association is spreading awareness about getting healthy, as February is American Heart Month. The message should in particular echo in the African Diaspora.

AHA informed that black men had 30 per cent more chances of dying from heart disease.

In a survey conducted, about 50 per cent of women said they would resort to some unproven remedies for tackling heart attack symptoms rather than calling 911 for help.

Experts state that salt should be kept away to prevent heart disorders, exercise is necessary and calling for help at the first signs of pain and uneasiness was necessary.
