As has been revealed in a prepared testimony for Tuesday's Senate committee hearing, Toyota Motor Corp. has named the ex-US Transportation Secretary Rodney Slater as the leader of a new quality panels comprising of independent experts.
Mr. Slater, who served under the administration of President Bill Clinton, will be leading the new panel that will ensure that Toyota's new quality controls "conform to best industry practices", as has been shared by Toyota's North American President Yoshimi Inaba.
The prepared testimony has been presented to the Senate's Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee.
"We are also putting a system in place to better share important quality and safety information across our global operations and to work more closely and transparently with government agencies", said Mr. Inaba.
The Senate committee will be the third Congressional hearing in a mere two weeks, to investigate the circumstances surrounding Toyota's major recall of over 6 million vehicles from across the US over various issues.
