Sanyo’s Smallest HD Camcorder Out on Friday

Sanyo has announced that the world’s smallest 1080i camcorder, Xacti VPC-CS1, will hit UK shelves later this week.

The Xacti VPC-CS1 Dual camera is one inch thick, and weighs 5 ounces, which makes it the world’s smallest Full HD camcorder. Not to be mistaken with the fact that its closest competitor, the Flip MinoHD, is actually smaller, but only records in 720p.

Unleashed for the first time at the CES show in Las Vegas in January, the cam goes on sale on March 5th here.

The VPC-CS1 is capable of capturing Full HD videos with a maximum resolution of 1920×1080 pixels using MPEG-4 AVC / H. 264 as an internal codec and can create 8 Megapixel stills.

It comes in the pistol-grip shape with a flip-out 2.7-inch LCD screen. The body also houses slots for SD, SDHC or SDXC cards and of course an HDMI output, allowing it to hook straight up to your HDTV.

The CS1 comes in silver and purple and will cost £250 when it goes on the shelves on Friday.
