The drugs experts have been warning that there are more than 16 million drug users in the world who, make use of the injection and the Government's ignorance would add to the risk of public health crisis.

The use of injections for taking drugs is increasing every passing day, adding to transmission of HIV in many countries.

Sharing needles with unprotected person and going in for an unprotected sex, are the biggest contributing factors in the rapid spread of AIDS.

"Although the number of countries with core HIV prevention services is growing, the level of coverage in injecting drug users is poor in many countries", said Bradley Mathers of the University of New South Wales, Australia, who led a study on prevention efforts published in The Lancet Medical Journal.

Providing needles, condoms and substitute drugs like methadone are some Infection prevention steps taken by the drugs experts but the Governments in some of the countries are unenthusiastic in adopting them.

Gerry Stimson, director of the International Harm Reduction Association, accused such states of "playing politics with people's lives" and feared that millions of them were at risk.

In a worldwide survey report, Mather and his teams has written, "HIV prevention treatment and care services for injecting drug users are clinically effective, but to exert a population-level effect they need to be delivered to scale".
