Cypress Health Region Permitted to Resume Maple Creek Hospital After Air Testing

The Cypress Health Region was given a green signal to re-open the Maple Creek Hospital which was shut down after Asbestos was found in a maintenance room at the hospital. The hospital was re-opened at 7 pm last night with an announcement from the Cypress Health Region officials about resuming all acute care services available in the hospital. This recommencing came after assured by the weekend air quality testing reports that the site is well cleared to encompass patients and that it was safe to reopen.

By the time services resume in the hospital, the assessment centre, which was functional at Pacific Avenue Medical Clinic, will continue operating till 7:30 p. m. tonight. Services like Community Health Services and Home Care Services will also restart regularly at the office soon.

After it was discovered that Asbestos was found in the maintenance room, the patients were transferred to other regional hospitals instantaneously and the staff members were also shifted from the building.
