After yesterday's events of Infinity Ward firings, Activision has gone ahead to form a whole new business division, completely dedicated to producing one new Call of Duty game every year. The company's first announced game is a 2011 Call of Duty title, which is currently in the works at the newly formed Sledgehammer Games.
Recently, in a news release, the company resounded that the Treyarch-developed Call of Duty title currently in production will be hitting stores this fall, while two downloadable map packs for Modern Warfare 2 will be released sometime during 2010.
As has been specified in the news release, the new game in the works at Sledgehammer "will extend the franchise into the action-adventure genre". Sledgehammer is operated by the experienced and much popular developers of Dead Space, Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey.
The new Call of Duty business division falls under Philip Earl's jurisdiction, who presently manages Activision's Asia Pacific region.
