Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has been asked to revive its security system by the Pimpri Police in order to avoid any terror threats in its headquarters. The recommended measures are being made compulsory to the PCMC and if it fails to stick by the terms, fine is supposed to be implemented on the civic body under the section 140 of the Mumbai Police Act.
The notice was issued to PCMC's Chief Security Officer Ashok Kumar Dalvi by the Pimpri's Senior Police Inspector T D Gaud. The notice has warned that failure to implement the suggested measures will invite action under the Section.
The measures that have been recommended by the police to the PCMC are: the compound wall of the headquarters should be elevated, armed security guards should be posted at the entrance which preferably should be chosen by Government-recognized body, compulsion of displaying identity cards for the employees and the officers, visitors should be screened while a register is also advised to be maintained for all the visitors and cameras and CCTV should also be installed.
The new card system for the patients is planned to be made functional by PCMC initially in Yaswantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital (YCMH) and after that in six other hospitals.
