21.2% slash has been announced in Medicare pay for physicians. The cuts in Medicare pay have forced doctors to avert medicare patients. It has affected many doctors and patients.

Cuts in Medicare reimbursements will lead doctors to limit the patients they treat.

The House of Representatives recently approved a bill that would have completed present Medicare rates by the close of March.

According to a survey of neurosurgeons in 2010, around 60% of physicians are lessening the Medicare patients in their medical practices and 40% would be limiting consultations by new Medicare patients. Neurosurgeons decided not to treat new patients.

“We need a rational Medicare physician payment system that automatically keeps up with the cost of running a practice and is backed by a fair, stable funding formula”, said Dr. William H. Fleming III, president of the Texas Medical Association.

The Congressional Budget Office has shared an estimate that the pushing the Medicare pay cuts to 1 October will lead to an addition of $7.3 billion to the federal deficit.
