Census Bureau Facing Problem in Finding Employees for Unfilled Jobs
Census Bureau

Census Bureau is facing difficulty in finding skilled employees in some places. Numerous positions are still vacant.

Census has already hired 3 million temporary employees for the 1.2 million jobs required to undertake the 2010 Census.

Census is receiving a number of applications in the south side of Hartford, but not from desired candidates. Census needs candidates who speak Polish, Russian, Urdu, Hindi, Korean and Vietnamese. In Texas oil towns, the Census is unable to find eligible workers to work for temporary jobs, following Louisiana and Mississippi.

On the shore of Lake Superior, there are not sufficient inhabitants living on the islands.

Wendy Button, Chief of recruiting for the 2010 Census said, "We're having trouble getting people there because of weekend homes”.

The Census Bureau wants 3.8 million qualified workers by the close of April.

Around 56,000 Census employees have planned to deliver the feedback form to 12 million homes.

Interested applicants can contact the Bureau at (334) 408-3180. Applicants will be required to take a test of 30 minutes having 28 multiple-choice questions that will determine the worker’s aptitude.
