Blur, Activision's upcoming racer, is all out flaunting the fact that it will be the first game to offer Xbox Live silver members, who are the non-paying members - the chance to play online multiplayer. Blur will also be the first game to allow PS3 and Xbox 360 players to compete against each other.
The newcomer will also feature a "four player split-screen feature for local multiplayer" when it comes out around May or June.
Blur integrates Twitter functionality, that enables players on either console, around the world, can challenge each other via the social network at any time, though, in actuality, this function merely posts a time to beat on a course over to your opponent, and you don't actually get to race against each other in real-time. That real multiplayer experience won't be there, and will only be accessible for Live gold members, like it used to be in the past.
Lead Designer Gareth Wilson told MTV Multiplayer, "In the single player mode when you finish a race, it records all of your stats and information".
But let's not crib about what we don't have now. Truth is that being able to challenge friends in this way is not bad at all. In fact, it is certainly better than nothing, which is what you had before this.
