Dacia to Step into the UK Market
Dacia to Step into the UK Market

Dacia will be introduced to the UK in 2012 with Renault car dealers central to the new brand's plans.

At the moment, there are no Romanian cars available for sale in the UK, but that is set to change with the announcement that Dacia will enter the market in late 2012.

Dacia will be sold through Renault UK dealers, in order to ensure maximum economies of scale.

Confirming the much-rumored expansion of the Dacia brand into the UK, Renault boss Patrick Pelata has made the announcement at the Geneva Motor Show.

A spokesman from Dacia said, "It is exciting news for dealers. In parts of Europe last year, Dacia won more market share than any other brand - and sales of 88,000 in Germany alone almost match those of Renault UK".

The models in the Dacia line-up include the Sandero hatchback plus saloon, estate, pickup and van versions of the Logan. But it is the Duster which will first go on sale in the UK. It is going on sale this month with a choice of three Renault engines (110bhp 1.6 petrol and 85bhp and 110bhp 1.6 turbo diesel) and front- or four-wheel drive.

According to a statement given to Car Dealer Magazine, "Only if the sales volume stacks up will they get separate premises - we get best value from sharing economies of scale".
