Adelaide-to-Darwin Railway Put up for Sale Once Again

In late 2008, the owner and operator of the railway, Freightlink, had entered into voluntary administration, after spending a mere months in the market.

Today, once again, the receivers, KordaMentha, issued an advertisement across the nation for interested buyers to contact them, as the railway is being out up for sale yet again.

As has been shared by KordaMentha, last year's market conditions were not suitable to undertake a sale and they are now confident that a good buyer will be found as the business is doing quite well.

"We think we'll have it completed by the end of June but we're seeking indicative offers only at this stage. So we'll evaluate those indicative offers and then we'll select some parties to proceed to the final stage", said KordaMentha's Martin Madden.

Presently, the said railway line is under repair in the north of Alice Springs, after recent floods managed to wash away a substantial section of the track for the second time in a mere two months.
