At the RSA Conference in Moscone Center, the Government expressed a strong desire of working with the private sector in fighting cyber-threats.
"In fact, we might be trying to recruit some of you right now. We need it. It's a huge (matter of) public interest for our country. We need the best minds to meet the challenge", said Janet Napolitano, Department of Homeland Security Secretary.
The U. S. Department of Homeland Security will be organizing a National Cybersecurity Awareness Campaign Challenge, which is a competition that aims at crowdsourcing DHS's public education needs.
"As we develop strategies and messages that will resonate with various groups, we want the benefit of your ideas on how you would get the word out to your colleagues, or your friends, or your parents and children", quotes the agency.
DHS is looking forward to proposals that will include Web 2.0 technology, privacy protection, repeatability, distribution quantification ability and the reception of messages.
"It should engage the private sector and industry leaders to develop their own campaign strategy and metrics to track how to get a unified cyber security message out to the American public", the agency said.
