A survey the previous month revealed that Apple’s iPad could affect the e-book device business of Sony, Amazon and others companies.
Apple yesterday said that the iPad will be made available for sale on 3 April and people can start placing orders for the device starting 12 March. The cost for the device will start at around $499.
"The iPad is all but certain to have a transformational impact on the e-reader market going forward. While a handful of e-reader manufacturers -- most prominently Amazon -- clearly have a major head start, the survey findings show the iPad is poised to profoundly shake up this market”, said Paul Carton, Director of Research for ChangeWave Research.
Some consumers said they are likely to purchase Apple’s device. Around 40 percent revealed that they are planning to buy the device, in comparison to the 28 percent who are annoyed with the Amazon’s kindle, 6 percent consumers voted for the Barnes & Noble Nook and 1% would buy the Sony Reader, according to the survey of more than 31,000 customers in United Nation.
The survey results pointed that Apple’s iPad is set to rock the e-reader business in future.
