As has been revealed by some data which was released on Thursday, over 60 drivers have sent in complaints that the problem of sudden acceleration has not been fixed in their Toyota vehicles, despite the same having received a round of repair by Toyota Motor Corp.
Made public by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the latest figures have managed to significantly increase the total number of complaints that involved repaired vehicles, which till Tuesday was less than 10.
The new complaints filed have alleged that various accidents and at least three injuries had resulted in runaway unintended and sudden acceleration, despite the vehicles having undergone a series of repairs and changes at Toyota dealerships that were designed specifically to resolve the problem.
In wake of the rising number of complaints, federal regulators have said that they would contact each motorist to find out more about what happened.
"If it appears that a remedy provided by Toyota is not addressing the problem it was intended to fix, NHTSA has the authority to order Toyota to provide a different solution", the agency said.
