Toyota Takes Steps to Silence Its Critics

Toyota Motor Corp. plans an assault on its critics with the company's course to dig in for a mammoth legal battle, in an attempt to silence all those who had condemned Toyota's vehicle recalls.

The Japanese auto maker plans to address about 1,000 suppliers, and defend its electronics systems while addressing a meeting.

Independent experts like the Head of Stanford University's auto-research center would be invited to argue against a study that implied that the unexpected acceleration in some Toyota models was caused due to electronics.

The company will also look to challenge the credibility of a self proclaimed "whistle blower" who released internal and confidential company documentations to Congressional investigators. Toyota President Akio Toyoda said, "It is important now to reassure that Toyota vehicles are safe".

Executives of the company have been asked questions about their response with regards to the reports received of sudden, unintended acceleration, which had led to the recall of as many as 8.5 Million vehicles from around the world.

Some who favor Toyota are pegging that the company would be able to defend itself in the probe.

"Toyota is still in the middle of its global recalls, and new problems keep showing up. It's like Tiger Woods, new mistresses keep appearing", said Rebecca Lindland, an Analyst with consulting firm IHS-Global Insight.
