A Senior Government source told the Toronto Sun that Ontario's huge Crown corporations may be reorganized so that they may compete in other authorities for new business. Crown corporations include Lottery Corporation, the LCBO and its utility companies.
For instance, the Ontario Lottery Corp. could bid to run lotteries anywhere in the world.
The world's largest booze retailer, LCBO, may use Ontario as a base as far as the expansion of its base is concerned.
Finance Minister Dwight Duncan affirmed that no step will be taken without the consultation of public. But in order to create jobs and economic growth, some of the Ontario's top assets could put up for sale.
Monday's Throne Speech will be discussing "Open Ontario" plan. The speech is expected to say, "Our industry has achieved this impressive global stature with each player - banks, insurance companies, investment funds and pension managers - working independently of each other. Why couldn't we come together, industry and government, and commit ourselves to a strategy to make Toronto one of the world's elite financial centers?".
