Poll Says a Mail-Free Saturday Sounds Good to Americans

On Tuesday, Postmaster General, John Potter told reporters in Washington that his postal service might discontinue mail delivery on Saturday.

According to a Rasmussen Reports poll this week, 70% Americans are in favor of the Postal Service, while 58% feel that they would be glad not to receive any credit card offers or 15 to 20 pizza flyers on a Saturday.

Some people recommended that in order to save more money, the Postal Service should be discontinued from Monday to Friday and all of it can be distributed on Saturday.

Potter thinks that by ceasing Saturday service, he can save about $40 billion.

In fact, Canada stopped Saturday deliveries ages ago.

The Postal Service took the employment level down, from more than 700,000 to about 600,000.
