So you think you don't get enough privacy in today's busy, busy world where everyone needs to know the exact location of everyone, and people always staying in touch through cell phones and social networking? Well, then add another tracker to the list.
Google yesterday released a Chrome build, albeit dev-only, for Mac operating system, Linux and Windows which would come pre-loaded with Geolocation API. The versions, however, will for now be the rough-round-the-edges ones.
The version is still in the test phase, so all those worried about getting tracked can breathe easy for some more time.
While Google has said that the permissions obtained for tracking of location will not be permanent, and the user would be re-prompted each time, there are many who are already questioning the safety of such a development.
Privacy issues are something that have been plaguing Google for quite sometime now, especially with the latest Buzz release which people claimed ended up exposing their profiles and accounts to unknown people.
In such a scenario, one is compelled to think about the repercussions of the company bringing out another tracker which would give out the location of the tester. But as the version is for developers and testers only, maybe it would not be that huge a problem. Either ways, all the best to Google and its new initiative!
