Target Now on Childhood Obesity: Looking to Nip the Issue in the Bud?
Childhood-Obesity

This might just be the way to do it actually. Dropping the extra pounds, and keeping them off for good, tends to get more difficult with age. And it seems that the authorities have now realized this fact and plan to target childhood obesity. So the target now is not just to fight obesity, but to fight childhood obesity, kind of like nipping the problem in the bud, while it is still easy to combat and reverse.

Also, a recent research stressed that it is important that there is proper community participation when it comes to combating the growing rates of childhood obesity.

The initiative to target obesity rates among children was essentially started by First Lady Michelle Obama, who kicked-off the drive and encouraged schools, parents, teachers and the children themselves to actively participate.

It seems that the best thing to do right now, to effectively combat the obesity problem in children, is to encourage kids to indulge more in physical activities and spend less time glued to video games, computers and television sets. Also, healthier eating habits should be promoted. And parents are the best people to take up the responsibility to ensure that their children are working out enough and eating right.

In addition, school authorities should also encourage more physical activity and offer better food options.
