A demonstration was staged outside the Starbucks coffee house, which faces a controversial debate regarding the gun laws. This protest was aimed at making the coffee-house giant revise its policy of letting the customers in, openly equipped with handguns.
Responding to such protests which earlier took place this week nationwide, Starbucks decided to permit the weapon in tune with the local law permissions. Starbucks stated,
"If we banned guns, we would be forced to require our partners to ask law abiding customers to leave our stores". Starbucks believes its decision to be right as they cite the local law by saying that firearms are not prohibited in 43 states and that the coffee-house is just sticking to it.
Ben Tracy, a CBS news correspondent reports that as carrying a gun in many parts of the country is not a tough job at all, this problem of customers carrying weapons is not just an issue in Starbucks but it is about the wider debate regarding gun control. In last two years almost 47 laws have been passed in 24 south and west states, that favor the relaxation in the restrictions posed on carrying guns.
