Collision injures five

A two-vehicle traffic crash that took place at the east end of Government Camp on Saturday afternoon that left five people injured.

The Highway 26 intersection at the Government Camp's Loop Road was where the accident took place and it was closed for about an hour following which the traffic was detoured from Highway 26 to Loop Road.

Oregon State Police Trooper Tyler Bechtel said, "The crash happened just after 1 p. m. Saturday. It was between a 2007 Subaru Impreza, reportedly driven by 59-year-old Dale E. Barnache of Southwest Portland."

Bechtel added that the driver was trying to take a left turn from Government Camp Loop Road to eastbound Highway 26. this led him to turning in front of an eastbound 1989 Volvo which was reportedly being driven by 51-year-old Ray Rademacher of Maupin.

Reports say that safety restraints were being used by both the drivers and they received minor injuries. The accident however, left the passengers in the Volvo seriously injured.

Maupin residents Patricia Rademacher, 49, and Jacquelyn Beverage, 26, both were taken Flight helicopter to OHSU with serious injuries while three passengers in the Volvo were checked into Oregon Health and Science University hospital.

Among the injured was a 2 1/2 year old, Hugo Christensen, who was taken to OSHU by ambulance with minor injuries.
