Aberdeen is quickly becoming the new New York. Not because of tall skyscrapers or the buzzing lifestyle of the most famous city in the world, but for some entirely different reasons – Aberdeen is, strangely enough, becoming “the city that never sleeps”.
A new survey has revealed that people living in the city, also known as Granite City, sleep for an average of a meager 5 hours and 23 minutes every night, which makes it the most sleep deprived city in all of UK.
More than 3,000 people across the UK were questioned about their sleeping patterns as a part of the survey, which was commissioned by multimedia retailer QVC.
The average British person isn’t that far behind. The survey has also shown that an average British person sleeps for only 6 hours and 7 minutes every night, which is well below the recommended eight hours. The surveyors also stated that half of the subjects described themselves as sleep deprived.
The freshly coined capital of sleep deprivation is followed, though very closely, by Chelmsford, with 5 hours and 26 minutes of average night sleep per person. Belfast came in at third place, at 5 hours and 35 minutes per resident.
Birmingham came in fourth at five hours and 42 minutes, while Gloucester stood fifth at 5 hours and 47 minutes.
