Vitamin D Helps the Immune System Fight Against Flu Viruses

Vitamin D helps increase a person’s immune system, making it strong enough to combat infectious viruses, a new study reveals.

The study was conducted by researchers at the University of Copenhagen.

Deficiency of vitamin D, it can lead to the risk of various diseases such as cancer, heart attack, diabetes and other diseases.

Antibacterial peptides produced by vitamin D help the body’s immune system to fight against viruses like flu. This is why flu is more common in winters, because people don’t go out in the sun and tend to suffer a deficiency of vitamin D.

Dr. Cannell, a vitamin D expert and Director of Vitamin D Council, revealed that patients who got sufficient supply of vitamin D were able to fight against swine flu last year, whereas many patients who did not get adequate supply of vitamin D were more likely to have swine flu and other diseases.

The study revealed that people with adequate vitamin D are more competent to combat diseases, as compared to those who get insufficient supply of vitamin D.
