Companies from across South Florida have decided to provide services and help to rebuild Haiti.
The January 12 earthquake that hit Haiti had killed around 200,000 inhabitants and 1 million people are homeless. According to the Inter-American Development Bank, the 7.0-scale tremor has caused a damage of about $7.2 billion to $14 billion. School buildings, Government buildings, roads and other buildings, require reconstruction.
An offer to bankroll the recovery has been made by the international financial community. Up until now, funds worth $2 billion have been pledged to help Haiti.
Around four other South Florida companies have decided to offer raw material and ready-made homes to resolve the Haitian housing problem.
SEACOR in Lauderdale would reconstruct the WIN Group's Terminal Varreaux, a port that stores 70% of Haiti's oil.
Another company named AshBritt had also decided to work for Haiti. Company creator Randall Perkins has assured President Réne Préval to generate jobs for people living in Haiti.
