Black and Hispanic Americans tend to lose more of their sleep over worries, as compared to Whites and Asians, according to a sleep survey released on Monday.
The National Sleep Foundation conducted its survey of around 1,000 individuals to know the amount of sleep Americans are getting, their sleeping habits and who is consulting doctors.
The results showed the difference between the levels of sleep from four different cultural groups namely Asians, African Americans, Hispanics and Whites.
Results revealed that large number of black Americans take care of their work before going to bed. And they are also more likely to pray and have sex before sleeping and require the slightest quantity of sleep to work best.
Asians are more likely to get the best sleep, have fewer tendencies to lose sleep over worries and do not use sleep aids, in direct contrast with Black and Hispanic Americans.
Thomas Balkin, Chairman of the foundation's board, said, "We expected culture would have an effect, but the differences between cultures are probably bigger than the genetics of people".
