Grants to Boost Workers' Health Awarded to Companies

Starting next months, firms from across the nation would have another avenue to turn to in order to gain funds for programs which would aim at promoting a healthy lifestyle for their employees, which would include providing exercise rooms to facilitate lunch-time workout sessions.

The new initiative will be officially launched from next month by the e National Trades Union Congress' (NTUC) Women's Development Secretariat (WDS) and the Health Promotion Board (HPB).

Under the new plan, companies can get a grant worth $200 from the HPB, in addition to a $100 grant from the NTUC to effectively implement health-promoting activities, which they can themselves decide on.

Also, firms can borrow BMI-measuring machines from the HPB, whenever they would consider conducting health-related workshops for their workers. The initiative to promote a healthy lifestyle at workplaces was first announced by Madam Halimah Yacob, who is the Deputy Secretary-General of NTUC and Director of the WDS.
