Paratoxine, commonly known as Paxil, is a drug recommended to females while in the early stages of pregnancy, but it have been recently found that the drug has bad effects on both mother and child. The study, that concluded and confirmed the harmful long-term effects of using Paxil, was titled as "Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors in pregnancy and congenital malformations: population based cohort study" and was conducted by the Institute of Public Health's departments of Epidemiology, Pediatrics and General Practice, the Denmark Aarhus University, along with the UCLA School of Public Health's Department of Epidemiology jointly.
The study, encompassing observation of 493,113 Denmark kids, who were born between the years 1996-2003, intended to examine any related links between congenital malformations and consumption of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) while a female is pregnant. The study found that SSRIs were related to some 'septal heart defects' commonly witnessed in children.
These cases, where mothers hold taking up of Paxil during pregnancy responsible for heart damage of fetus, are taken care of by Fitzgerald Law Firm. Co-trail council, in the winning case of 2001 Tobin v. SmithKline Beecham Pharmaceuticals was Jim Fitzgerald's law firm (www. fitzgeraldlaw. com). Mr. Fitzgerald still stands for parents facing problems with the health of their children because of using Paxil during pregnancy.
The literature of producer of Paxil 'GlaxoSmithKline' also states that Paxil and other SSRIs or SNRIs consumed in late pregnancy may cause complications related to respiration, seizures, temperature instability, feeding difficulty, jitteriness, irritability and constant crying along with stretched hospitalization.
