Although by Saturday 2:40 pm the problem was fixed, but during the fault, customers came across difficulties in even connecting a call and receiving or sending SMSs.
Apologizing, Vodafone assured that such problem will not occur in future and announced a compensation of $10 million as the disruption has raised questions by customers as well as Government on consistency and dependability of the new network.
Elaborating on what happened, Vodafone stated, "On Saturday, one of Vodafone's fibre network providers FX Networks began a planned network upgrade to cabling between Taupiri and Horotiu. The resulting disruption to service was clearly Vodafone's responsibility and we acknowledge that FX networks were not at fault. Vodafone would like to apologize for any impact or inconvenience caused to our customers".
