The Japanese Electronics maker, Panasonic Corp announced to launch its 3D televisions in the United States on Wednesday.
Also, it revealed that it will conglomerate with Best Buy Co., America's leading electronics retailer, to keep the special displays promoting its new 3-D televisions at U. S. market, and will discount the prices of those models by nearly 50%, as part of the Japanese firm's strategy to propel adoption of the technology.
The company hopes a 50-inch model to retail for $2,500, and targets to sell 500,000 3D TVs in the United States in the first year of their launch, half its annual global sales target.
Panasonic, the world's No. 4 flat TV maker behind Samsung Electronics Co Ltd., LG Electronics Inc. and Sony Corp., bears an optimistic outlook, posing strong confidence for 3D TVs as it aims to turn its TV business profitable in the year starting April.
Also, the electronics maker plans to launch new televisions and Blu-ray players to bring 3-D into the living room.
Shares in Panasonic closed up 2.8 percent at 1,307 yen on Monday, outperforming the Tokyo stock market's electrical machinery index, which gained 2.1 percent.
