Frequent Use of Eye Injections for AMD, Work – Related Sunlight Exposure Lessens

A report published in the Archives of Ophthalmology revealed that eye injections are being used more frequently as a treatment for the age related Macular Degeneration. The research, which was extended from 2005 to 2007, and conducted by Queen's University, reported an eight fold increase in the amount of injections for AMD in Ontario.

A new study published in the online Journal Cancer said that men who are less or almost not exposed to sun are more likely to contract kidney cancer than men who are exposed to sun rays more often. The study further added that the percentage of those not contracting kidney cancers among the men who get work- related exposure to sun varies from 24 percent to 38 percent. No such associations were noticed in women.

Sara Karami, of the National Cancer Institute in Rockville said, "The findings suggest that sunlight exposure may affect kidney cancer risk, but the reason for the difference between men and women is a mystery". The research was conducted on 2500 people, out of which 1100 were suffering from kidney cancer.

According to a report available in the Archives of Internal Medicine, from Boston, reasonable consumption of alcohol in women potentially curbs weight gain. The research included 7000 women, and the study was undertaken for a period of 13 years.
