The tearful mother of Charmaine Dragun, the Sydney newsreader, today could not help from breaking down in court as she recalled a phone call from her daughter wherein she confided that she was having suicidal thoughts.
On the second day of court hearing about the death of the 27-year-old who jumped off an ocean cliff in November of 2007, Estelle Dragun sat in the witness box and shared with the court an early morning phone conversation she and daughter had shared a mere 2 months before her suicide.
"Charmaine was very upset that day ... She described herself as pretty worthless. She also told me about panic attacks before going on air, she was really at wit's end and didn't see any light at the end of the tunnel", Mrs. Dragun shared.
Charmaine reportedly said to her mother, "Mum, I even have thoughts of taking my life".
As was shared by Mrs. Dragun, in the months leading up to Charmaine's death, her mother noticed that she was experiencing terrible mood swings, ranging from very happy to utterly depressed. She was also reportedly overly anxious about her work, family and relationship.
