Woodside has outright denied that any of its workers were faced with asbestos exposure on Pilbara's Pluto LNG project.
The Australian Manufacturing Workers Union had yesterday shared that as many as 8 workers had been blatantly exposed to levels of asbestos that were dangerously high. The material was reportedly contained in packaging material which had been imported from New Zealand.
As has been shared by AMWU, independent analysis of the grinding gaskets that had been imported revealed dangerously high levels of both brown and white asbestos.
In a written statement officially released by Woodside, the company has stressed that the toxic substance was identified in some contained, but none of the workers had been exposed to them and no one on site had handled them.
Woodside also shared that an asbestos removal company has now been hired to safely remove all material that could be dangerous.
