Reports are that health advocates in Kempsey are looking at joining a statewide alliance that currently is representative of regional hospitals and health services.

On the weekend, spokesman of the Rural Health Alliance, entertainer Frankie J Holder, shared his thoughts at an official meeting in Kempsey.

As has been shared by Mayor John Bowell, over 100 people had attended the meeting and heard about the importance of joining hands with one voice.

Councilor Bowell has stressed that he would be asking fellow councilors to support a proposal which would require them to join the alliance.

"The council is now taking a very active interest because hospitals and health services comes under the umbrella of our social plan. The intention will be to involve the medical staff councils at the hospitals from Bellingen through to Wauchope, including Port Macquarie, to ask those professional people to look at what is in the best interest", he said.
