National Problem Gambling Awareness Week Stresses Particularly on Education
Gambling

Monday marked the commencement of the National Problem Gambling Awareness Week, and agencies from all over the US are particularly focused on providing as much information as is possible. The National Council on Problem Gambling boasts branches in some of the country's largest gambling states.

The central purpose of the week is to let people know that there are places across the national which offer help in case they are dealing with gambling addictions. Seminars are taking place every single day and brochures to help people are also being handed out.

McNeese State University's Project for the Treatment of Problem Gambling is one of the official groups which has been offering information and help for many years now. Unlike other groups, this one is not strictly opposed to gambling.

"The Project is neither for nor against gambling. The Project is just here to help. Problem gambling affects not only the individual, but also those around them", shared Annette Kent, Outreach Coordinator for the project.
