Last Thursday, team members and supporters gathered around to celebrate and cheer the 2010 Relay For Life: “A Cure for Cancer Will Be Music to Our Ears. Let Weymouth Top the Charts!”.
The 5th annual event, designed specifically to benefit the American Cancer Society, is all set to take place at the Weymouth High School track on June 18 and 19.
Relay for Life Chair Annmarie Murphy has been encouraging the participating teams to pick a theme song or favorite musical artist and accordingly decorate their campsites.
"We want to have fun with the theme. We want to get people enthused and excited for Weymouth’s fifth Relay", she said.
"Wouldn’t it be swell if the music of our lives went on uninterrupted? A smooth medley of mostly happy tunes, Christmas carols and wedding marches, a few sad songs about pickup trucks, lost loves and dogs that ran away but mostly God Bless America and Happy Birthday to You?", said Weymouth Town Councilor and Luminaria Committee Co-Chair Ed Harrington.
