The Winnipeg-based grain agency is spouting calculations on the net amount of wheat it has ever shipped to China, as it prepares to celebrate 50 years of exports to China, which played a vital role, resulting in full diplomatic ties between China and Canada.
Farmers will now possess the chance to interact and share their views on the CWB, its programs, policies and services, with their elected Canadian Wheat Board (CWB) directors as the board's annual Farmer Forums, which will be held across the Prairies from March 8 to 19.
Producers can grab the opportunity to learn about the CWB's past performance, as well as future outlooks for markets and sales.
"(Canada's) relationship with China really started with the wheat trade", quoted Ward Weisensel, chief operating officer for the CWB.
Weisensel and other CWB officials were in Ottawa Monday for a gala concert event with the China Broadcasting Symphony Orchestra at the National Arts Centre to kick off celebrations of the 40-year anniversary of Canada-China diplomatic relations.
The current figures reveal that China imports an average 386,000 tonnes every year, of malting barley from the CWB and 544,000 tonnes of wheat.
